Kayak around Ireland for Hospice

During the last week of May a GMIT student and his kayaking buddy will be departing Howth to paddle around Ireland by sea kayak (1,600km). The expedition is being carried out in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation, a charity working to improve end of life care in Irish hospitals. During the trip they will be carrying all their camping, cooking, and safety equipment, and a week’s worth of food at a time in their kayaks. They hope to be finished the trip in five to six weeks while paddling for six to 10 hours a day.

Over 10 Kilkenny childcare facilities have already registered to participate in this year’s NCNA National Pyjama Day in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation’s Hospice Homecare for Children programme. The fundraising day will take place on March 25 and the NCNA are encouraging those not already registered to do so and join in the day of fun and help raise much needed funds for the Hospice Home Care for Children Programme.
